Good afternoon and welcome to the sixth iteration of:
I hope everyone had a great July and I trust you all survived the great Microsoft-Ocalypse of 2024.
All while Crowdstirke brought the world to its knees and every SEO agency has been asking their genie in a lamp what the next core update will entail, Google took a massive hit, losing their Antitrust Lawsuit:
While it may come as a shock to some, to others it is glaringly obvious that Google has pulled a classic Standard Oil special, considering the chokehold they have on nearly every internet search query.
There is something to be said about the fact that Google is partially responsible for opening the World Wide Web to anyone who can type a question into a box, but the rules and the rules.
No one knows what is to come of Google in the months and years following this lawsuit, but we do have some great memes and some classic backlinking tips!
Cheers,
-J
HARO, or Help a Reporter Out, is an online platform where journalists post inquiries for experts to weigh in on topics they are covering. We monitor platforms like HARO daily for our clients and colleagues, and we often run into funny or downright odd requests. Some are just too good to not share...
Every month we will be highlighting some of the better backlinks the Mad Mango Marketing team has built as of late.
This is a simple, yet ever so valuable article we developed for one of our clients.
While this collaboration did span a couple of months, due to this publication having a variety of editorial checks and balances, it was worth the effort.
A sister website to both TripAdvisors and CarGurus, ApartmentAdvisor is an extremely reputable platform. We were able to find some middle ground with their editors and agreed on a topic that would hit our objectives, as well as provide valuable insight for their readers.
Who doesn't love a good ole' Yahoo backlink?
While we can't guarantee our clients backlinks from sources like USNews and Yahoo every month, our more responsive clients who are willing to provide expert quotes, such as this one, find themselves occasionally featured in places like Yahoo.
While backlinks and features of this caliber are important for the client's overall authority on the internet and they "Raise All Ships", our hyper-specific outreach and niche backlinks are essential, and PR backlinks such as this one only get you so far when looking to rank for specific terms.
Yes, I am sure you have seen the endless stream of memes about this gentleman from the Olympics, but this one had me dying.
The accuracy of this meme is too good to go unmentioned.
As an Apple bandwagoner, fan-boy, occultist, or whatever we're called, I felt it necessary to make a point that while the world was burning down for Microsoft users, our Macs were full steam ahead :)
If you've been working in the SEO space or own a website of any sort, I am certain you have heard of, have been pitched, or have even participated in a three-way link exchange.
Some search engine experts have spoken out against them, some for, but I am here today to tell you to do whatever you want.
3-way link exchanges are perfectly fine. Those telling you that "Google Will Detect it as a PBN" clearly have never seen the mile-long PBN lists that Google ACTUALLY cares about.
Google doesn't care that you, Jim, and Bob shared links, nor will they likely ever even know about it. Hell, they might even promote it because it only helps their algorithm learn more about what you do.
Google has even come out and said that DIRECT link exchanges are acceptable, to a certain degree. The reality of the world is that businesses work together and establish natural connections on the internet.
Do what makes sense and what you, as a searcher, would look for, because at the end of the day, all Google's algorithm is trying to do is offer the result that makes the most sense to the searcher.
