Not only are forums no longer a sign you can easily rank for that keyword, but we've seen ranking websites lose out to forums in SERPs that have historically ranked small publishers or brands.

Google Alerts is one of the best ways you can keep an eye out for other websites mentioning your company without having to do any hands-on work.
Once you set up Google Alerts, anytime you're mentioned, shoot the website an email. Express your gratitude and maybe comment on the content, 9 times out of 10 they won't have any issue linking out the website they directly mentioned in their article.
