Good afternoon and welcome to the Ninth iteration of:
I hope everyone is crushing their Wednesday and if you're tuning in stateside, happy post-election day!Elections and SEO really aren't so different when it comes down to votes and backlinks. We've always stood by the idea that every backlink is a "vote" of confidence in your website. If anyone tells you backlinks no longer matter in SEO, just imagine an election without any votes, it just wouldn't make any sense. The only way to truly learn who the best candidate is or which web page is the best result for your SERP is by gauging which, and how many, people are casting their vote for each option.Anyways, let's sit back and get into some hilarious memes and great backlinks!-J
HARO, or Help a Reporter Out, is an online platform where journalists post inquiries for experts to weigh in on topics they are covering. We monitor platforms like HARO daily for our clients and colleagues, and we often run into funny or downright odd requests. Some are just too good to not share...
Every month we will be highlighting some of the better backlinks the Mad Mango Marketing team has built as of late.
REDFIN for the WIN!
Another example of a PR-esque link without explicitly running a PR campaign.
Doing your research, keeping up with outreach, and getting in touch with the right people is the key. Somewhere out there is a journalist who would die for some insight from your client, it's just a matter of making the connection.
Never brush off an opportunity if it's not perfect at first glance.
Does this website offer the exact same services as our client? Yes.
Do they service an area several states away from our client? Also yes.
They cover topics we want to rank for, and they rank extremely well, so a link here carries obvious value.
Thought this older meme was hilarious not only how poorly it has aged, but also how insignificant forums used to be in the eyes of SEO's.
Not only are forums no longer a sign you can easily rank for that keyword, but we've seen ranking websites lose out to forums in SERPs that have historically ranked small publishers or brands.
The run on Reddit continues.
Here I go again stealing a meme from SEO memes near me. What can I say, they're good at what they do.
SEMRush is taking a page out of Google's book, buying up Search Engine Land like how Google purchased YouTube.
Why compete when you can just buy the competition?
Natural mentions of your brand are some of the best links you can get.
Google Alerts is one of the best ways you can keep an eye out for other websites mentioning your company without having to do any hands-on work.
Once you set up Google Alerts, anytime you're mentioned, shoot the website an email. Express your gratitude and maybe comment on the content, 9 times out of 10 they won't have any issue linking out the website they directly mentioned in their article.
